Bluestone Acres -Guidelines for a Happy and Adventurous Stay with us

Important Notes: Velkomen! (Welcome) to our off-grid cabin and camping accommodations! Bluestone Acres is an agritourism location so as such we are a working farm which requires care and attention to certain details when you are a guest touring and staying on our site. We are glad you chose to stay with us to enjoy the natural beauty and tranquility of Wells Gray Country and the North Thompson Area. As a community village, we need guidelines for the peace, enjoyment and comfort of all our guests and us ( your hosts) as we live on-site. Please read and accept these terms and conditions to ensure a safe and pleasant stay for everyone.

Cancellation Policy:

Our cancellation policy aims to be fair to both our guests and the hosts, considering the unique aspects of farm stays.

Advance Booking: We strongly encourage guests to book well in advance. For the Summer Season we offer extra discounts when you book in May and June for bookings anytime during the Season. There are also extra specials and packages available up until June 31st.

CANCELLATION POLICY

  • Full refund for cancellations made within 48 hours of booking, if the check-in date is at least 7 days away.
  • Full refund for cancellations made within 12 hours of booking if the check-in is 5-7 days away.
  • There is a 50% refund for cancellations made at least 5 days before check-in.
  • No refunds for cancellations made within 7 days of check-in.
  • If you can’t make it due to an unexpected event (for example, road closure, adverse weather), we can offer you re-scheduling or future booking vouchers for the price of your original booking.
  • If you do not show up for your booking, there will be no refund.

Check-In/Out: Check-in is from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., and check-out is by 11:00 a.m. Please inform us in advance if you need to arrive or depart outside these hours. The 4×4 shuttle to the Village only operates until 10pm, so please ensure you check in before that time or you will need to walk all of your gear down on your own. If you are staying in one of the RV sites, you can use the ‘Self Check In’ located on the RV page of this website if you arrive after 5 pm and there is a vacant site.

Damage Deposit: There is a $200-$400 Damage Deposit required upon check-in depending on which cabin has been reserved and how many are in your party. This deposit may be cash or credit card. By cash, the deposit will be held and returned to you upon Check-Out. If Credit Card, your Deposit will be captured but not billed and then released upon checkout. Credit Card is better if you would prefer a self check out.

Location: We are designed for Adventure Tourists and Farm enthusiasts so getting to your cabin requires a small hike (10 min). We will provide a 4×4 shuttle service for all of your gear. We can also provide a shuttle service for you if you prefer not to hike down to your cabin. Just let your Host know your preference.

Our location is near a functioning railway and highway. There will be some noise from both, but the trees, river and cliffs muffle it. As our cabins and tent sites are Riverfront, the lovely sounds of the North Thompson River will take centre stage.

Off Grid: Our cabins are not serviced with electricity or water. They are designed to work with the environment and to keep it in it’s most natural state. The main cabin – Skogly – has a gravity-fed shower, composting toilet and propane-serviced appliances ( fridge, Stove Top, BBQ and hot water heater) The Ilska Cabin does not have these services and is meant for shorter-term stays. Battery lighting is available in the cabins, and solar lighting is used minimally on the grounds to keep the environment dark and peaceful.  A main outhouse with a composting toilet is available in the village for those without a private bathroom. All of our accommodations provide a luxury mattress and bedding. The Skogly Cabin provides dishes/cutlery/BBQ tools. The Elska only provides dishes and a wash bin. If you need BBQ tools, you can rent a kit from us.  If you are staying in one of the Tgald ( Glamping) tents, we recommend bringing your own towels, dishes, cookware, flashlight, and a cooler for your food and beverages. If you need any of these items, we have them available for rent.

Campfires: Bluestone Acres is on private land, but is subject to campfire bans as issued by our local region. Campfires are banned during summer months when it gets too dry. Campfires are permitted non-summer months and when forest fire risk is low provided there are no burning restrictions in place and guests follow conditions provided by the Kamloops Fire Centre

No Fireworks: Fireworks disrupt guests, residents, and wildlife. We ask all guests at The Cabins to refrain from using fireworks while visiting the Viking Village unless prior arrangements have been made with the owners for a special event.

Garbage: Please keep garbage inside the trash can with the lid on so as to not attract bears or other critters. Extra garbage bags have been provided or just ask if you need additional garbage bags. Please follow our Self Check Out Program instructions for guest garbage if you plan to leave and utilize the self check-out.

Recycling: Please help us by rinsing out your recyclable containers and placing them in the garbage bags provided and leaving them by the picnic table. Your host will remove them for you.

All Cabin Supplies: (dishes, bedding, etc.) need to stay in the cabin. Please do not move items from cabin to cabin as it makes it difficult for housekeeping to sort out the Inventory of each cabin and you will be charged for missing items.

Using Dishes, Cutlery, and Other Amenities: Washing dishes is a guest’s responsibility. We’ve provided a washing tub, soap, and sponge. In general, we ask that you leave the cabin as close to how you found it as possible, except for the linen and garbage, which we will take care of for you.

Please use towels if rented for in-cabin/tent personal use only. Do not take towels on your hike to the lake or use them to clean up spills on the picnic table. If you use the robes, please place them on the bed when you check out so that we know to wash them.

Eco Friendly: As we are a working farm, we will provide eco friendly and ‘safe’ cleaning products for use for cleaning dishes and yourself. Please use these products as we aim to protect the forest environment.

Local Flora and Fauna: Wells Gray Provincial Park area is Borne from volcanoes and carved by glaciers—the world’s only old-growth inland temperate rainforest, with tranquil lakes, powerful rivers, and soaring mountain peaks. We ask that you enjoy the woods and rocks and water and resist taking parts of it home. Leave this area better than you found it. We do provide painting kits inside your cabin if you would like to paint one of the many rocks that are around us on-site and leave it behind for other guests to see. If you want to take rocks with you, we suggest taking only one/person as a general guideline.

Lost and Found Policy: Guests are responsible for safeguarding their personal belongings during their stay. If you leave an item behind, please inform us immediately. All lost and found items will be securely held for 30 days from the date of discovery. Please note that a minimum service fee of $20, along with the COD charge from Canada Post, will apply to send items via mail to you. The service charge must be settled before the return of any item.

Damage: Repair and maintenance problems must be brought to Management’s attention within 24 hours of occurrence. Excessive Damage or items needing replacement will be charged against the credit card on file up to 30 days after Departure Date pending final invoices and cost. Excessive cleaning charge will apply if the renter and guests do not follow our Guest Agreement.

LIGHTING: As we are off-grid and meant to provide a true wilderness experience, there will be no safety lighting on around the site other than a few strands of solar lights and lighting to the outhouse. We do provide flashlights in the cabins for your use, but please remember to return them to avoid an extra service fee.

FIRE PITS: Each cabin site has a fire pit and a picnic table for outdoor dining and cooking. One bundle of Firewood is provided for your stay and extra firewood is available for purchase.

Please follow the fire safety rules posted at in your cabin and do not leave the fire unattended. Please also respect the quiet hours from 10:00 pm to 8:00 am and keep the noise level low. During Forest Fire Season, we may get the order for a Fire Ban. At that time, we must respect the order. Fire pits and open fires will not be allowed. We rent propane fire pits if your stay coincides with a fire ban.
